Watercolored Emotions

Artist Statement:
I loved this project. I used a lot of different things to create the different looks. The top left is with plastic wrap. The top middle is with splashing watercolor on the damp page. The top right is watercolor with salt. The bottom left is with rubbing alcohol splashed on it. The bottom middle was done with a white crayon before applying the water color. The bottom right was done by putting on watercolor and dabbing at it with paper towels.

Mandala

Artist Statement:
The title of this piece is called Seven Days. This piece is important to me because through this mandala I am able to share truth. I am able to share story of the Creation through a Christian's eyes. The center is a sun representing God because He is the source of all spiritual light, just as the sun is the source for all the light here on earth. The seven rings surrounding it give a description through symbols what happened each of the seven days of creation.

Foil Square

Artist Statement:
This art project was something that I had never done before. I began with my piece of cardboard cut out from an old cereal box. Then I began drawing my design of a sailboat out at sea with birds in the sky. I then traced the design with a black sharpie. Then I outlined the picture with hot glue. Upon it drying really fast I laid a piece of tin foil over the top and starting giving it definition with a Q-tip. Then I took some black shoe polish and covered it top to bottom and within a minute or two wiped it off leaving the excess in the fine details. This art project did not turn out one bit as expected, but I still felt that it was a success.

Artist statement:
Watercolor was one of the biggest difficulties I had this semester. But it was sure fun trying something new. If I was to teach this to my young students one day I would try a few things differently. First, I would teach watercolor basics and then I would slowly move into drawing their own picture. The viewfinder on this assignment sure gave it a different dimension. After my third try I finally felt success!
